More UFC 2009 gameplay details released.
More details are emerging on UFC Undisputed:
-Fighter attributes consist of striking, wrestling, submissions, and unfortunately for Mark Coleman, conditioning. There are also more attributes which have not yet been disclosed.
-Fighters have special trademark attacks. Wanderlei Silva has his knees in the clinch, and Rampage has his slams from top position.
-Photo-realistic cut and bruise detailing is carried through each round. If a fighter has taken repeated kicks to the leg, over time he will begin to limp.
-The game does not include: stoppages from cuts, disqualifications, or low blows.
-Fighters who stall from the guard will be stood up.
-You DO NOT control the cut man, as was the case in Fight Night Round 3.
-BJ Penn, Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson are confirmed to move between weight classes. However, the majority of the fighters are fixed to one weight class.
-The game rewards smarter players who play to their chosen fighter's skill set.
-It is possible to "dirty box".
-Edith and Arianny, Joe Rogan and Goldy will be in the game. Certain cornerman will also be in the game, as will the always well-tanned Bruce Buffer.

Dan Henderson vs Rich Franklin demo video released!
Finally, THQ has released (a little late) UFC Undisputed gameplay video of Dan Henderson and Rich Franklin.
Wouldn't it be nice if they showed off the capabilities of the Create-a-Fighter mode by showing Fedor vs Arlovski, prior to this weekend's upcoming Affliction PPV? A man can dream, can't he?

GSP vs BJ Penn screenshots
For the upcoming PPV UFC 93 and UFC 94, expect THQ and Zuffa to once again release screenshots to hype these pay-per-view events.
UFC 93 pits Dan Henderson against Rich Franklin at light-heavyweight, while UFC 94 has a highly-anticipated welterweight championship bout between Georges "Rush" St Pierre and BJ "The Prodigy" Penn.
For UFC 93, the following fights are also scheduled on the Main Card:
-Mauricio "Shogun" Rua - Mark Coleman
-Denis Kang - Alan Belcher
-Rousimar Palhares - Jeremy Horn
-Marcus Davis - Chris Lytle
For UFC 94, the following fights are also scheduled on the Main Card:
-Lyoto Machida - Thiago Silva
-Karo Parisyan - Dong Hyun Kim
-Nathan Diaz - Clay Guida
-Stephan Bonnar - Jon Jones
I'll post these screenshots as soon as I get them, as long as THQ isn't being stingy with them. It will be interesting to see which weight-class BJ Penn is placed in for the game, as he's currently the lightweight champion. These fight cards should also confirm more fighters for the game, as screenshots are released.
In the meantime, check out my archive and quick links in the right-hand margin to see my previous releases on UFC 2009.
UPDATE 01/15: It looks like THQ is being stingy with the screenshots for Hendo vs Franklin, and I won't have any to post. I can't imagine that they wouldn't release screenshots of GSP vs Penn, since that is a huge fight. Stay tuned.

UFC Undisputed Create-a-Fighter
Game developer THQ has released an overview of UFC Undisputed 2009. Listed below are the highlights, including the much-anticipated Create-A-Fighter mode.
If anyone remembers the old PrideFC game for the PS2, the Create-a-Fighter mode was outstanding, and gave the ability to create fighters who fought in other organizations but were not included in the game. In other words, the UFC Undisputed Create-a-Fighter mode may very well allow us to create figthers such as Fedor, Sakuraba, Overeem, Hunt, Manhoef, and anyone else we'd like.
And even more promising: THQ was the developer behind PrideFC as well.
AUTHENTIC UFC PERSONALITIES: Explore a deep roster of more than 80 top names in UFC competition across all weight divisions and enter the Octagon surrounded by the sport’s popular commentators, announcers, referees, trainers, Octagon girls and more.
PHOTOREALISTIC MODELS AND EFFECTS: Absorb the world of UFC as it appears on television with photorealistic fighters who breathe, sweat and move like their real-life counterparts. Players will also experience ripple effects across the faces and bodies of their fighters from the impact of devastating punches and kicks.
CONSTANT CONTROL: Gain the upper hand in matchups with a brand new fighting game engine designed specifically for next generation systems. Emphasis on innovative, responsive and easy-to-play controls will give players unparalleled command of their fighters in the Octagon.
FIGHTING DISCIPLINES: Take down opponents and get the submission with a variety of mixed martial arts disciplines, including Judo, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Kickboxing, Boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
CREATE-A-FIGHTER: Jumpstart the career of a future champion by customizing his physical appearance and attributes, learning new fighting techniques to use in the Octagon and managing his training process through attributes such as strength and cardiovascular health.
CAREER MODE: Develop attributes, perfect moves and fight for entry into the UFC Hall of Fame through a series of dynamic storylines that build friendships and instigate intense rivalries.

Latest images from UFC Undisputed

Latest images of the UFC video game feature Forrest Griffin getting GnP'd by Rashad Evans. While I don't imagine the UFC 92 championship bout playing out that way, it's interesting to note that Dana White and the UFC are marketing upcoming PPV events with screenshots from the game. The images shown here are from the Playstation 3 version of the game.
